Salah´s shoulder woes a factor early in Liverpool´s season

Mohamed Salah toiled with the after effects of his shoulder injury at the start of this season, says Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

A deft finish from the Egypt forward opened the scoring for Liverpool in the Premier League leaders 2-0 win at Wolves last time out and moved him on to 14 goals for the campaign in all competitions.

Five of those have come in the past two weeks and Klopp believes the 2017-18 PFA and Football Writers Player of the Season is now firing on all cylinders – not that this was always the case in the months after his ill-fated grapple with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final.

He is young enough to involve a lot more things in his game. It s not just speed, it s not just finishing, it s keeping the ball, Klopp tol…

Rice, Kane, Rabiot, and more: The Daily Transfer Round Up – Tuesday, June 27

West Ham reject Man City bid for Rice

West Ham have reportedly rejected a big offer for the services of Declan Rice from Manchester City.

The 24-year-old England international is currently the subject of a fierce battle between City and Arsenal. The Gunners made their move first and have had two offers already rejected, even though Rice himself is believed to be keen on the Emirates move. However, the fact that City have entered the race with a strong effort will only make Arsenal s job of landing their primary midfield target this summer more difficult.

Bayern focused on Kane rather than Osimhen

Bayern Munich have reportedly told Victor Osimhen through his representatives that their focus regarding the plan to sign a striker this s…

Conte walked away from celebrating late Bentancur winner after fearing it would be disallowed

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte admitted he went down the tunnel after Rodrigo Bentancur s dramatic late winner at Bournemouth because he feared it would be ruled out by the video assistant referee.

It looked like a bad week for Conte was about to get worse as Spurs fell two goals down at the Vitality Stadium after Kieffer Moore s brace.

Goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Ben Davies and a 92nd-minute strike from substitute Bentancur turned things around though, ending a run of three games without a win in all competitions for Spurs.

Conte had not been shy in giving his opinions on recent decisions he felt went against his team in last week s Premier League loss to Newcastle United and Wednesday s Champions League draw with Sporting CP.

Real Madrid beat bitter rivals Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano for the first time, as Gareth Bale s 100th goal for the club helped secure a 3-1 win to move them up to second in LaLiga.

Los Blancos claimed a morale-boosting 1-1 draw at Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg on Wednesday and they produced another resilient display to beat Diego Simeone s men on their own turf for the first time since their meeting at the Vicente Calderon in November 2016.

Atletico conceded twice in a first half at the Wanda for the first time, as Sergio Ramos penalty added to Casemiro s spectacular opener after Antoine Griezmann had equalised, with a little thanks to VAR.

Javier Hernandez looked to have secured a fantastic draw with a brace either side of half-time after the Saints surged two goals ahead, but Pablo Zabaleta s push on Maya Yoshida enabled substitute Austin to snatch all three points with effectively the last kick of the match.

Southampton had earlier opened up a two-goal lead as Manolo Gabbiadini found a way past Joe Hart after 11 minutes. The Hammers then lost Marko Arnautovic to a straight red card for catching Jack Stephens with his arm before Dusan Tadic made it 2-0 from the spot.

However, Hernandez appeared to be Slaven Bilic s saviour by cutting …

City´s Arsenal blow sparks Champions League fears for Guardiola

Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City s FA Cup semi-final loss to Arsenal could harm their Champions League chances.

Guardiola s former assistant Mikel Arteta masterminded a superb 2-0 win for the Gunners, who ended a run of seven consecutive defeats to City thanks to a goal in each half from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and a tireless defensive display.

City s underwhelming Premier League campaign will now amble to a conclusion in dead rubbers against Watford and relegated Norwich City over the coming week, with the focus shifting to Real Madrid s visit to the Etihad Stadium on August 7.

Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Guardiola suggested a two-week break before Zinedine Zidane s LaLiga winners aim to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit at the last-16 stage wo…
