Sherwood grateful for Spurs exit

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood says he holds no grudges against his ex-employers ahead of Saturday s return to White Hart Lane with Aston Villa.

Sherwood spent six months in charge at the London club following Andre Villas-Boas departure in 2013 and will make his return needing points to keep Villa s Premier League survival bid on track.

Having taken over at Villa Park in February, Sherwood says he is relishing the challenge of keeping the club in the top flight.

I was pleased with what I did [at Spurs], but I respect the decision made by Daniel Levy and his board, they ve been good for me, he said.

They only made that decision based on what they believe is best for the football club.

They have to make that decision. I haven t got to a…

Valencia want £90m for Villa

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes claims Valencia want £90million for Spain star David Villa.

City have been linked with a move for the Valencia striker, who was top scorer at Euro 2008.

The 27-year-old has impressed by scoring 74 goals in 120 La Liga games for the Spanish side.

“It is difficult to overcome the idea that there is one price for us and another for the rest but we have dropped deals before and we will again,” Hughes told the Daily Mail.

“We will not pay ridiculous money. If a club wants us at the table it has to talk sensibly.

“Valencia wanted £90 million for David Villa and the fact is he isn’t worth £90 million, so no deal.â

Bendtner claims he’s Arsenal’s best striker

Nicklas Bendtner last night claimed that he is Arsenal s top striker and should be starting every game according to the Daily Mirror.

The Danish striker is already said to be unpopular among sections of the Arsenal support and his recent claims will only make things worse for the youngster.

The Daily Mirror reports the striker as saying:  I m very sorry to see Adebayor injured as we need him fit and to be playing in the league, But it does not really matter to me who is fit and available.

I should start every game, I should be playing every minute of every match and always be in the team.

The 21-year-old is likely to get a run in the first team after Emmanuel Adebayor was recently ruled out through injury, although Eduardo is on his way back fr…

Cazorla trains at Emirates after injury agony

Santi Cazorla took to the Emirates Stadium pitch to perform some light training drills ahead of Thursday s Europa League semi-final against Atletico Madrid – a sight sure to delight Gunners fans.

Spain midfielder Cazorla last featured competitively for his club in October 2016 and has since endured an unrelenting injury nightmare.

The 33-year-old has undergone multiple surgeries on his right Achilles and lost eight centimetres from the tendon, while he contracted an infection that left him at risk of having the foot amputated.

Another injury setback in January put paid to Cazorla s hopes of a comeback this season but he stepped back on to the turf for an evening workout before his team-mates tangle with Diego Simeone s LaLiga side, bidding to keep outgoing boss…

Look out above! Abreu flips out to turn the tables on frustrated fans

Audax Italiano supporters had a whole new reason to keep an eye on the table after forward Sebastian Abreu did not take kindly to criticism.

Home fans vented their frustration after the struggling Chilean club drew 0-0 with Antofagasta on Sunday, a result that stretched their winless run in the league to seven games.

The jeers sparked a reaction from veteran frontman Abreu, though, as he initially shouted back before choosing to launch a pitch-side table towards a section of the crowd.

The ex-Uruguay international who includes Deportivo La Coruna, Gremio, Real Sociedad and River Plate among a lengthy list of former clubs had calmed down by the time he later posted on Twitter.

Socialising with a friend, the 41-year-old showed a sense of humour as he remark…

Vardy reveals matchday energy drink and port routine

Leicester City and England star Jamie Vardy says the secret to his high-octane performances involves three cans of energy drink and a double espresso before each game – and a glass of port the night before.

The 29-year-old striker, who has scored three goals in all competitions this season, told The Sun: With a traditional 3pm Saturday kick-off, I ll have a can of Red Bull as soon as I wake up, which is gone in 30 seconds.

I don t have breakfast and won t eat anything until I have a cheese-and-ham omelette with baked beans at 11.30am. I wash that down with another Red Bull, which I also nec…

´A mix of Kaka and Ronaldo´ – Pjaca´s agent talks up new Juve signing

Marko Pjaca s agent says the Juventus winger embodies the combined qualities of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.

The Serie A champions signed Pjaca from Dinamo Zagreb for €23million this month following an impressive showing for Croatia at Euro 2016.

But rather than easing the pressure on the 21-year-old s shoulders, agent Marko Naletilic has been heaping lofty praise on his client to raise expectations.

Comparisons are always difficult, but Marko I see it as a mix of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, he told Tuttosport.

Pjaca is slower than Cristiano Ronaldo, but is more unpredictable. Marko is an artist [and] also recalls the genius of [Dejan] Savicevic.

Naletilic claims Pjaca had a wealth of suitors to choose from, but opted for Juve as he understood…
